The glass of the CLINIO AIO devices is a single-sided micro-etched float glass with high resolution and NON-Sparkling effect.
Virtually free of distracting reflections, it is ideal as a front panel for high-resolution screens and premium displays – wherever quality and design place the highest demands on materials and properties.
Due to its thickness (3 mm for CLINIO), the glass guarantees high break resistance.
The protective glass on CLINIO devices is mainly used for hygiene, protection of the otherwise sensitive LCD surface, anti-reflective properties – especially in the light conditions, e.g. in the operating room, tactile behavior when operating with surgical gloves, insensitivity to fingerprints and the safety of patients, users and third parties.
The touch devices are referred to as laminated safety glass due to the glass touch sensors being glued on.
In addition, this protective glass is flush-fitted, sealed and protected all round against mechanical damage.
Protection types of the impact energy
The front of the CLINIO AIO devices achieve an impact resistance of IK07.
The IK impact resistance rating or IK protection class is a measure of the resistance of enclosures of electrical equipment to mechanical stress, in particular impact stress.
The IK code is internationally standardized according to IEC 62262 (corresponds to EN 62262, formerly EN 50102).
Protection class | Impact energy | corresponds to the drop height of the mass |
00 | No impact resistance | No protection |
IK01 | Protected up to an impact energy of 0.14 joules | 7 cm – 200 g |
IK02 | Protected up to an impact energy of 0.20 joules | 8 cm – 250 g |
IK03 | Protected up to an impact energy of 0.35 joules | 14 cm – 250 g |
IK04 | Protected up to an impact energy of 0.50 joules | 20 cm – 250 g |
IK05 | Protected up to an impact energy of 0.70 joules | 28 cm – 250 g |
IK06 | Protected up to an impact energy of 1.0 joule | 40 cm – 250 g |
IK07 | Protected up to an impact energy of 2.0 joules | 40 cm – 500 g |
IK08 | Protected up to an impact energy of 5.0 joules | 25 cm – 2 kg |
IK09 | Protected up to an impact energy of 10 joules | 20 cm – 5 kg |
IK10 | Protected up to an impact energy of 20 joules | 40 cm – 5 kg |
Why not aluminum silicate glass?
Aluminum silicate glass has a large splinter pattern with many small, sharp-edged splinters and is intended for use in small sizes where high strength with low material thickness is required, e.g. cell phones and tablet computers. As a rule, glass thicknesses of a few tenths of a millimeter are used here to save weight.
With a material thickness of 3 mm, the CLINIO protective glass is at least comparable in strength to a 1.5 mm thick aluminum silicate pane.
For the reasons mentioned above, Rein Medical recommends micro-etched float glass on one side.
