Mice and keyboards with the highest medical requirements
Conventional data input devices are a breeding ground for pathogens and a potential risk of cross-contamination, as the gaps between them are difficult to clean. This means that input devices in the medical sector are subject to the most stringent requirements. This includes a disinfectable mouse and keyboard, which are the main point of contact for everyone using the respective workstation on a daily basis.
The hygiene requirements for these devices are very high. First of all, a medical keyboard and mouse must meet the highest ergonomic standards. This is already a challenge in many cases, as good haptics and hygiene are difficult to combine. Moreover, in comparison to normal keyboards, there are additional requirements and differences. These are mainly hygiene related.
Level disinfectable surface
A medical keyboard or mouse must be easy to clean for daily use. This can only be done if it has no corners or indentations, but rather the most even, moisture-resistant surface possible, for instance made of silicone. Germs often settle in openings and crevices, which makes cleaning more difficult. The mouse also needs to be washable and hence it should have no openings on the underside.
Applications
Disinfectable keyboards and mice are commonly used in medically sensitive areas. In everyday practice, the devices are deployed in hospitals, at dentists or orthodontists, as well as in the POS or food production sector and in laboratories.
Why use Medigenic products from Rein Medical
Fast cleaning while maintaining hygiene
Cleaning must be done quickly because the keyboard cannot be used while it is being cleaned. This is why the option of being able to switch off the input field at the touch of a button is an advantage. This enables cleaning and disinfection without spending much time. The outcome is perfect hygiene without a lot of wasted time.
Disinfectants
Hygienic keyboards and mice must withstand all commonly used disinfectants. These may not cause any damage to the surface. Our input devices are thus resistant to all surface disinfection agents recommended by the VAH/DGHM.
Variants and versions
Rein Medical has a range of medical keyboards in different versions. The portfolio ranges from a simple basic version to more complex keyboards that can initiate a learning process for staff with a built-in hygiene alarm. After an individual cleaning interval has been set, the sensor system reminds the staff that the keyboard needs to be disinfected. When the sensor system is satisfied with the level of disinfection by the user, it switches itself off again automatically. Compact keyboards for applications with limited space are also available, as are wireless versions.
