For better picture perception
Investigations have shown that the adaptation of screens to the Barten model (also called the DICOM characteristic) optimally compensates for the weaknesses of the human eye.
The gradations of brightness are not linear, but the way the human eye perceives them. For just as the ear perceives uniform volumes at different frequencies as different, our eyes react to levels of brightness.
This different perception is counteracted by the correction of each individual brightness level (255 in total). The resulting correction curve is stored in all Rein Medical screens as a DICOM preset and can be activated via the menu.
The illustration shows the differences in the representation of a DICOM preset.
