IP protection classes

Protection against contact and ingress of water and dirt

In many applications, computers and monitors have to work safely for many years under difficult environmental conditions. Dirt, germs, bacteria, dust and moisture can rarely be kept out.

The effects of inappropriate contact with foreign bodies or other objects can also hardly be avoided, especially in the operating theater.

The IP protection classes determine the extent to which an electrical component can be exposed to environmental influences without being damaged or posing a safety risk.

In medically sensitive areas, appropriate IP protection offers safety for the device and patient, as the devices can be cleaned without hesitation using standard hospital disinfectants.
