Technical information: DICOM Preset
For better image perception
Studies have shown that the adaptation of screens to the Barten model (also known as the DICOM characteristic curve) optimally compensates for the weaknesses of the human eye.
The gradations in brightness are not linear, but rather the way the human eye perceives them. Just as the ear perceives uniform volumes at different frequencies as different, our eyes react to brightness levels.
This difference in perception is counteracted by correcting each individual brightness level (255 in total). The resulting correction curve is saved as a DICOM preset in all Rein Medical screens and can be activated via the menu.
The illustration shows the differences in the display caused by a DICOM preset.
